About ULLA KIMMIG photojournalism
Ulla Kimmig is a German photojournalist. A graduate from the State Academy for Photo Design in Munich in 1985 with a year at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1982 she has been working as a freelance photographer since 1986. For her works she travelled throughout Europe, parts of Asia as well as Australia and the USA. Since the mid-1990s she has been on photo-reportage in numerous countries in the Middle and Far East. In addition to carrying out commissions from national and international magazines, Ulla Kimmig manages independent projects such as exhibitions and books. For her long-term project about Iran, she was twice awarded a scholarship by the VG Bild-Kunst in Bonn, 2002 and 2008. She was also twice awarded the Photography Master Cup in photojournalism namely in 2007 and 2009. Her monograph, "Iran. Standstill or Awakening" (Edition Braus, 2005), is her first comprehensive book publication (preface by Katajun Amirpur) with subsequent exhibitions shown world-wide in various museums, at festivals and in galleries in Germany, Amsterdam, China (Pingyao Photofestival), Switzerland and ART Paris. Besides her own independent projects she produces visual concepts and corporate identities for international companies.
